Friday Letters #5

Dear Teaching, I think after two and a half weeks I have gotten back into my teaching groove. I have been on summer break since June 24th, and I thought I would hate going back to work. While I don't love working, I am happy to be teaching again. This week went by a lot faster than last, and I think it's because I knew what to expect from my classes. I think I am going to enjoy teaching English. {At least I better since I'm in a year contract.}

Dear Pho Noodles, I seriously could eat you every night of the week. And fun fact- I have mastered eating noodles with my chopsticks. I think that puts me in the intermediate chopsticker category. But back to the noodles- mmmm mmmm good. It's been good this week because it's been so rainy, so eating something warm perfect.

Dear Family and Friends, I really do miss you! Can we please Skype sometime? {I'm talking to you Abuela, Chantal, and Beth!} Matt and I are getting a futon sofa bed, so when you visit you have a place to stay. Hint hint... you should visit us! {Aunt Nickie, Let Jessie come for a visit. It will be fun.} I still haven't received any candy corn care packages... I'm assuming they are in the mail. If you need my address just ask!

Dear Chuseok {Korean Thanksgiving}, I am so excited you are next week! Three day holiday here we come! Although it's a bit sad we won't get American Thanksgiving off, I'm glad to be getting a chance to explore Korea a little bit more. I asked Matt if this means since Thanksgiving is next week if we can start listening to Christmas music then.... he said no... but I might do it when I'm by myself. :) {By the bye, I asked two other Korea expats and they said go for it.} In other news, Matt and I will be taking our tour of the DMZ, Olympic Village, and visiting Everland during this break, so stay tuned for updates!

Dear Apartment, We finally got your horrible smell out, but what the heck do we do with your wallpaper?!? We are torn because we don't want to put a lot of money or effort into a project, but it's just so hideous! Does anyone have any cheap and easy suggestions?

Dear Belinda and Chelsea, I am super excited to be guest blogging over at your blogs within the next week, but I am so darn nervous! Thanks for being so patient with me these last few days. I can't believe this is my first time guest posting and it worked out that I did two in one week! Thanks thanks thanks again! PS- I love both y'all. I feel like a fan getting to go backstage at a concert and hang with the band. Haha.

{*If you are confused, I will be guest posting at Found Love Now What this Sunday- September 15th and I'll be at Lost in Travels this Thursday- September 19th. Make sure to head over there and check them out!}

Happy Friday Y'all!

Love, Alex

    1. Chelsea, thanks for that! I kept making Matt read and re-read the post :) He was definitely happy to see me e-mail it off. I am seriously stuck on this wallpaper! I don't want to paint it, or take it down- so we're trying to come up with solutions. I feel like we are living in a clowns apartment. There are two other walls with two other colors and prints of wallpaper!!!!

  2. I like your reasoning about listening to Christmas music after Korean thanksgiving. And I don't know why, but the "New Super English Junior" reminded me of the Korean "Super Junior" band my little sisters are crazy about. (yeah, no One Direction for them, Super Junior instead. lol)

    1. Rachel, I like my reasoning as well... my husband did not. :) I have never heard of Super Junior. I'll have to check them out. I haven't really gotten into any form of Korean music yet. My head hurts from listening to my kids speak in a language I don't understand all day- I don't think I can handle music yet.

  3. Oh hideous wall paper! I've had to live with that before. We have some good apartment stories from Russia!! Ha! No suggestions other than doing the Russian thing like a carpet or blanket on the wall. I look forward to seeing your guest posts!!

    1. Tina, Thanks for the suggestion! The problem we are having with finding fabric for the wall is it seems like everywhere we go al we find is really tacky or bright stuff. We haven't found anything that's our style, but we're not done searching.

  4. Haha!! What a great post!
    When I saw that wallpaper I thought to myself "OH well, at least she gets to explore Korea"... we can't have it all right? My little girl would probably think that was rocking awesome wallpaper!
    As for noodles with chopsticks? IF I tried that, they would probably kick me out for looking like a *** but... I'd still try! Perhaps you could do a video log and teach us all the proper way!! LOL... I need it!

    1. That's a good way to think of it 'we can't have it all' We really aren't home that much for it to matter to much! I'll have to look into making a vlog about using chopsticks with noodles :) that is a good idea. haha Thanks for your comments
