Friday Letters #72

Happy Friday Y'all! 

How lucky- two posts in one day. But I've had a lot of free time at work, and I thought this would be a good use of my time. There's only so much facebook one can take at a time. 

So I haven't done a letters post in a while, so here is what we've been up to. 

-Weekend adventure trip to Seoul 

-Watched a Korean baseball game Doosan Bears vs. LG Twins 

-We sat on the Doosan side and had a blast. The cheer section was amazing. I think I am going to do a whole post about it

- I really committed to my team and bought this super cute bear headband 

-After the game we hit up the Hard Rock Cafe Seoul. 

-Booked our tickets to California to visit my dad 

-The next day we went shopping around COEX Mall. This is the world's largest underground shopping mall

-We ate some yummy Mexican 

-Went to the aquarium 

-Drank some delicious Gong Cha bubble tea 

-Last weekend, I went to a baby shower for a friend at church

-We got a care package from my Fahey grandparents

- I started working on my family history work again 

-Kept running (I'll be hitting the 5 mile mark this weekend) 

-Found this cool ice cream Avengers cake for Matt 

-Had a date night to see Avengers last night

-Experienced a Korean photo booth 

-Finished up our 2nd to last week of teaching (only 4 more work days left!)

- Watched Star Wars with Matt 

-Bought the rest of the yarn for my ripple pattern blanket. Don't ask how much that cost

And that pretty much sums up our last few weeks. We are getting a little sad about leaving, but mostly just so excited about this new adventure we are starting!

Friday Letters #71

Happy Saturday Y'all! 

Here's what we've been up to: 

-Work,Work, and Work

-Finally read Where'd You Go, Bernadette, and Shopaholic and Baby

-Started packing up our apartment

-Bought tickets to Universal Studios Orlando (Yay!)

-Finally started editing pictures from our Thailand trip 

-Accepted an offer to Georgia State University (fully funded!)

-Cleaned out my closet and got rid of a lot of things 

-Tired a new face care product 

And that's basically all! 

T-minus 49 days till we move back to the states. Target here we come.

Friday Letters 69 & 70

Well Happy Sunday y'all! 

Another week and weekend has passed us by. Matt and I are heading towards are final weeks here in Korea! We have less than 2 months now before we head home. 

But more on that later- here's what we've been up to lately. 

-Crocheting a lot {I'm living the wild life- I know}

-I finished the present I was making for my friend's baby boy. She is doing a nautical theme for the nursery, so I whipped up this baby blanket. It was my first big crochet project. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out- it's not perfect, but I love it. 

-I also started a new blanket that I am keeping for myself. It's a lovely ripple pattern and I love working with it. 

- Matt and I spent the last couple Saturdays just hanging around

-Last weekend, we went watched a friend play in a middle school basketball game 

-We hung out with the Schmitts and played Mouse Trap

-We binge watched The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in one night and loved it

-I've been binge watching Hart of Dixie 

-I finished all the Harry Potter books

-Read Yeah, Maybe 

-Last Sunday, we made M&M Pudding Cookies which turned out pretty well 

-Matt is still loving his wooden bowtie 

-We only have 7 more weeks of teaching and that is so exciting

Friday Letters 68

Well hello there to all those that have not completely given up on me these last couple of weeks. 

I don't really know what got into me- I just felt like I needed to take a break from this blog and really make up my mind about keeping up with it or quitting it. Which I hate saying, but the thought of just stopping came into my mind a lot. So I needed to take some time. 

And I've realized that I don't want to stop writing- I love this little blog of mine. I don't care that it's not huge. I just love having a place to come to and share both the day-to-day living and the fun adventures we have. 

And so- without further ado- here's what we've been up to: 

-Took a trip to Thailand

-Played with some elephants and tigers

-Rode on an overnight train (twice)

-Ate some yummy Thai food 

-Took a cooking class

-Got welcomed back to Korea with lovely air pollution and the freezing weather

-Continued our Korean tutoring

-Had a lunch date at Pizza School

-Continued on my latest crochet project (which is almost done)

-Caught up on a lot of tv

-Read 6 of the 7 Harry Potter books 

-Booked our tickets home (hello May 9th)

The last couple of weeks have been a lot of fun. I am looking forward to sharing our trip with y'all. 

I am also looking forward to saying goodbye to February!

Delayed Friday Letters 67

Happy Sunday Y'all! 

I hope your weekend went well. Matt and I had a mini adventure up in Seoul and then relaxed. 

Here is what we've been up to: 

-Getting ready for our trip to Thailand (6 more days!) 

-Skyping with my friend Beth 

-Finding a new bbq place near our house

-Cleaning up the apartment 

-Day tripping to Seoul

-Starting a new crochet project for my friend's baby that is due in April 

-Buying yarn for a project I want to start at a later date

-Doing family names at the temple 

-Eating yummy Mexican food

-Tickets for home are officially booked

-Snuggling up with Matt and watching Harry Potter 

-Getting a lovely care package from my Grandma and Grandpa Fahey 

-Rereading the Harry Potter books (can you see a theme)

And that's been our week. We are really excited for our upcoming trip and can't wait to leave next Saturday!

Happy Friday Y'all! 

Woohoo for the weekend. 

Here is what we have been up to:

-Day trip up to Seoul last Saturday

-Ate some yummy Southern BBQ

-Found a pretty new purse

-Found a sweatshirt I have been looking for 

-Explored Seoul more

-Had dinner with a friend from BYU-Hawaii

-Had Family Home Evening for the 3rd week in a row

-Worked - boo

-Talked with my mom and my Abuela and Papa

-Went to see Night at the Museum

-Took a walk in the snow

-Finished watching Outlander and reading the first book of the series

-Continued to watch Friends on Netflix 

And that's pretty much it!

Friday Letters 65 {On a Saturday}

Aloha and Happy New Year Y'all. 

Whew- it's a been a while since I last posted. I guess with Christmas and the New Year holiday and time off from work- I really wasn't in the blogging mood. But I'm here now and that's what counts. 

Here's what our last couple of weeks looked like. 

-Matt and I celebrated New Year's Eve at home watching t.v and playing possibly the longest game of Rummikub ever. 

-We had a three day New Year slumber party extravaganza with the Schmitt Family

-We played the game Headbanz numerous times over the weekend

-I bought two beautiful Korean ceramic vases 

-We put away our Christmas tree 

-Went back to work 

-Bought some new face products to try out

-Started writing in my new Hobochini daily journal

-Semi-planned a trip up north for an ice fishing festival 

-Lazed around and watched The Arrow and The Flash

-Watched Friends

-Practiced crocheting 

And that's basically been our lives these last couple of weeks. A whole lotta tv and game time. 

Friday Letters 64

Happy Friday Y'all! 

I hope you had a good week. I am excited to see the week ending and have the weekend to laze around. To be honest, this week was kinda sucky. 

On Thanksgiving, we got the news my Papa Drake was in the hospital and was having a lot of problems. At one point, they even called in the family to say goodbye. The next day it seemed as if he would be okay if he could get off the ventilator, so my hopes were high. I recorded a video via facebook for my Papa to listen to.  But yesterday- I got the news that he had passed. I was expecting it after having a few conversations with my mom, but it still did not lessen the blow of losing another loved one while living in Korea. I am writing this- not to bum y'all out- but to have a record of how I'm really feeling and what's really going on here. 

Living overseas is one of the greatest experiences I've ever had, but with it comes the knowledge that when stuff happens back home- you could be missing out. It is hard to push through here in Korea and feel happy and upbeat about the upcoming holiday season- when life back home sucks. I hate that I can't just jump on a plane and be with my family. There is comfort in knowing that families are forever, and I am so thankful for the technology that allowed my Papa to hear my voice and see my face one last time while on this Earth. I wanted him to know that I loved him. That I was thinking of him. And I hope he knew that. Papa- I know you are up in Heaven with Greyce now, and I'm so happy you are in peace. 

I don't mean to drag y'all down, but I needed to write these words, and at the end of the day- my blog is a journal of sorts. 

In more upbeat news- here is what we've been up to: 

We finished up with our 30 Days of Thankful project. 

28: The opportunity of living in Hawaii

29: Care packages from our family (Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Fahey and Mom and Barry)

30. The Schmitt Family- our good friends here in Korea

I loved working on this project and being in the spirit of Thanksgiving for the whole month. I am thinking of doing project thankful 365 for next year. 

-Thanksgiving morning we put up our Christmas decorations

-I love the little ornaments we picked up while traveling this year (and by ornaments I mean keychains that we repurposed)

- I love the decorations I made for Super Saturday this year 

-November 28 we helped host a Friendsgiving for people at church that were alone this holiday. It turned out pretty well. 

-We had an endless amount of leftovers that we enjoyed

-We watched Free Birds and a ton of Christmas movies (Arthur Christmas, Santa Clause 2, Santa Clause 3, ABC Family movies, and Elf) 

-December brought the super cold weather and some snow. Luckily, I got a package from my mom with the clothes I bought from Old Navy- so I have some more winter clothes to add to the rotation. 

 {Don't you love getting packages with clothes and food and then trying all the clothes on!}

-This year we started the tradition of 25 Days of Christ. Our advent calendar this year is following the booklet and reading from the scriptures every day. 

-We finished all the ornaments for the 25 Days of Christ

-Putting together the ornaments was a pain in our butt, but we love the messages so far 

-Matt got a new bow tie for our anniversary and I got my Christmas smash book 

- I wrapped presents to send out to my family

-Ordered our Christmas cards and my in-law & and Grandparents' presents 

And finally we are faking it till we make it. We really had a good couple of weeks, but we are putting in a lot of effort to be happy. We are going through the motions hoping that soon we will really feel joyful and ready for Christmas. But right now- being away from our family really sucks. 

And that's my motto for the week- Fake it till you make it. 

We are here in Korea, so we might as well be in the moment.
