A Very Graham Weekend and Other Festivities

This past weekend was busy, busy, busy! 

Friday night Matt and I met up with Obachan and the Grahams to celebrate Chinese New Years. 

We ate dinner at this place called The Lucky Noodle. {Well, they ate and I picked at my nice for a while.}

Then the Lion Dancing started and it was pretty cool to watch. I am glad we went down to see it. But the firecrackers were really loud and it got really smoky. But it was fun, and Matt was happy I came this year.

After the festivities, Matt and I went to see the movie Warm Bodies. It was really good and worth the cost of the tickets, and the concession since I needed a snack after not eating Chinese. 

On Saturday we met up with Josh and Ari (Matt's Graham cousins) for lunch at The Hard Rock Cafe. We wanted to treat them because they have chauffeured us around a lot in the last couple of months. It was good spending time with them. You would think we would see them all the time since they are our upstairs neighbors, but we really don't. It was good food and good company. 

Sunday we had to go to Kaneohe so I could pick up my lacrosse equipment. {Yup, you heard me- lacrosse! I am coaching again this year. This year I am coaching the Mililani High School team.} 

Anyway, while we were in Kaneohe we stopped by my cousin's house. We ended up watching the Super Bowl with them and having a lot of fun. They had a lot of food, and I got to roll sushi again.

Sunday Night- we had dinner with our new friends Kea and Kai'anui Graham (Josh's cousins on his dad's side), and Janelle and John Gomez. 

It was a good weekend. I am glad we got out and did a bunch of stuff this weekend. 

Our Little Red Mailbox

Matt and I bought this little red mailbox at Target the other day for $5. 

I thought we would keep the love around in our home by exchanging love letters. 

I will let you know how it goes! 

An Important Occasion

This past Sunday my niece, Sophia was baptized. 

I really can't believe she is 8! I am so happy for her and her parents. 

Congrats Sophia! Uncle Matt and I wish we could have been there!

And a bonus picture: This wasn't of the baptism, but I love this picture of Barry and AB. Luckily, Barry was able to fly out to Utah for the baptism. Looks like they are both rocking the Asian Peace Sign. Auntie Alex is proud! 

Anniversary Questionnaire

{I know our anniversary was awhile ago, but I forgot to post this questionnaire.}

I love traditions (which you guys know). And I love documenting our lives (which you know). 

When our 2nd anniversary came around, I wanted something to reflect that year together. 

So I came up with the idea to do an Anniversary Questionnaire. 

This way we would have a few questions we answer every year on our anniversary. 

Matt and I put our heads together (with a little help from the blogging community) and came up with these 10 questions.

My answers are in purple. Matt's are in green. 

1. What is something you learned about each other this year? 

Matt hates lotion. Like hates it, but he is still willing to rub my feet with it. 

Alex does have a creative side; she just has to find the stuff she wants to create. 

2. Something NEW you love about your spouse. 

I love that Matt is always working hard to help provide for us. Even with putting time into his unpaid internship he continues working at the Reading Writing Center. 

She is a teacher. 

3. A habit that is driving you crazy. 

Sometimes at night Matt makes this really strange noise. And it makes trying to go to sleep impossible. 

Making me decide where we are going to go eat and then not wanting to go there. 

4. Something thoughtful they did this year. 

Matt let me spend the money to go home to see my family in October, even though we were planning on going in December. 

Alex made a photo album for Abeula's birthday. She got everyone to say why they loved Abuela and put everything together. 

5. New tradition you started this year that you love.

6. A major accomplishment of your spouse this year. 
Matt finished all his classes for his undergrad and secured an internship for next semester. 

Alex got her first official teaching job at Mililani Middle School. 

7. What brought you closer. 
Being really really poor for a good part of 2012. We didn't let the money (or lack thereof) come between us.

9. What is your favorite memory of this past year?
I have two. Going to Moab to visit Arches National Park, and going to Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, Oregon.

10. What has surprised you the most about being married? 
How much I have become dependent on Matt. I literally count on Matt for everything. Like my little sister Olivia said, "Alex, you are so lucky." Me "why? " Olivia: "Because you have Matt to do all your work." 

I thought we would have more money than we have... I mean there are only two of us. 

Will You Be Mine

Friday I borrowed a scrabble board from our upstairs neighbors (and cousins) and made this little note for Matt. 

I thought this was a creative way to ask for my Valentine to be mine. 

Luckily for me, Matt accepted!

Friday Flashback #37

Isn't this such a great picture. We all look like we really love each other. 

Notice the Hooters shirt. I wasn't trying to make a statement; I actually really like Hooters. All throughout high school I was just waiting for my boobs to get big (sorry Papa) so I could be a Hooters girl. 

You can blame my parents- they used to take me there all the time when I was a little kid. {Picture a toddler in a little hooters shirt saying "Mama, I want to go to Hooters."- cause that was me.} 

 I wore this shirt to school Freshman year and my Geography teacher Ms. Paul had a fit. I think she spent the whole class period talking about women's rights. 

*This was the same teacher that refused to call me Alex because she said it was a boy's name. But, I wouldn't let her call me Mary. Together we compromised on Mary Alex- thus making me youngest non-Catholic Nun to ever exist. 

Ironically, that halloween I dressed up as a nun... hmmm I wonder where those pictures are.
