The Thankful Project Day 3: A Place

The month of November is plodding along, and with it so goes The Thankful Project. Who else is loving this abundance of gratitude?!?

Day 3: A Place

When I was thinking about this prompt, I thought of a couple different places that I was thankful for, but I kept coming back to the same one time and time again:

My Abuela and Papa's house.

Any big event usually is happening at Abuela and Papa's house. Family dinners, holidays, birthdays, pictures, etc. all happen here. This house is full of wonderfully fun memories and adventures I've had with my Abuela and Papa. When I think of these two awesome people, I picture them at their house- usually sitting in the living room visiting, or messing around in the kitchen.

I am so thankful for this wonderful place to call home. While I know my parents house is actually my home away from wherever Matt and I are, there is something special about going to Abuela and Papa's house.

When you walk inside, you know this is a house filled with love. There's a cabinet full of toys and books for the little ones, a whole bonus room upstairs full of dress up clothes and more toys, ping pong and pool are set up downstairs. There's an amazing movie room, and if you're lucky Papa will make some equally amazing popcorn. Their fridge is covered with photos of their grandchildren. Whenever I go over, I make sure my photos are displayed prominently in front of the 'lesser' grandchildren. :) It's a well known fact that I am the favorite. I mean I even have a room named after me at Abuela and Papa's house. A privilege only two in the family can actually claim. {The rooms are called Nickie and Alex's rooms.}

I absolutely love this house. I love being in it. I love sleeping over in it. Matt told me he loved me for the first time driving home from this house. We had some of our first dates watching movies with my grandparents in the home. We went here the morning after we got engaged and shared the news with them. We celebrated our first Halloween as a couple in this house. We had our Thanksgiving dinner rehearsal dinner in the basement of this house.  I love that Matt and I called this home after we were back from our honeymoon and were waiting to move to Hawaii. I loved seeing my grandparents in the morning getting ready for work, and seeing them for dinner after work. I love this place; I really truly do.

While I have rambled on for a couple paragraphs, I am sure you get the idea. My place is the home of my grandparents. So many memories are held inside this beautiful home. I am so grateful to have this place to take claim to, and lucky enough- the house comes with two pretty amazing grandparents.

Do any of you have a place like this that you can claim?

  1. Isn't that the truth?! All the good family photos were at Mamaw & Papaw's house. :) I, too, am enjoying everyone's gratitude posts. The first place your love told you he loved you? How adorable is that? Great memories!
