Trip to a Thai Market {Thailand}

Happy Tuesday Y'all!

Okay- time for our first official Thailand post. We spent 9 days in Thailand. And while there, we split our time between Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

On our first night in Chiang Mai, we took a cooking class. Or I should say- Matt took a cooking class and I took pictures. While I enjoyed our cooking class in Cambodia, I really didn't feel like paying the money and cooking this time. I really hate cooking and Thai food is not my favorite, so Matt went solo. I was his personal photographer for the night.

We decided to take our cooking course with the Baan Thai Cookery School.
{We hadn't really heard anything about them prior to this trip, but their brochure looked good. And we are happy we went with them.}

The first step was the trip to the market.

This market was a nice walk from the cooking school, and we got to see a little more of the city while walking. When we got there, I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting the kinda of market we saw while visiting Cambodia

Compared to Cambodia- this market was tame. It was way less crowded and there wasn't as many pig heads hanging from the stalls. {Sorry, I know I've living in Asia for a while now, but whole fish bodies still freak me out.} It really just looked like an American farmers market with a little more fish heads. I'm sure there are grittier markets in Thailand, but this was not one of them.

 I always like this part of the cooking class because the teacher explains what ingredients we will be using and what they look like, etc. Plus, it's always nice to see the fresh produce and how people in different countries do their shopping.

Did you know America is one of the only countries that refrigerates their eggs? {Check this out if you don't believe me.}

And that was our trip to the market. I got a yummy passionfruit juice, and we started our walk back to the school.

Check back for the next post on the class and more details about the school.

Reflections #19

Happy Monday Y'all!

It's been a while since I've reflected on my time here in the ROK. In fact, I left off on month 16. Way back then I listed things I was excited for and things I was nervous for.

And that list has pretty much stayed the same. Except I am way more excited to be going back, but way more nervous about driving.

The thing I've realized about nearing the end of your time in a foreign country there are highs and lows. Some days I can't wait for time to speed up (actually this is most of the time). And other days- I really want to take in as much of Korea as I can. We have a few more Korea trips on the books that we are looking forward to.

We love Korea. We are just tired of teaching English and working for our schools. We are tired of our teeny weeny apartment (and by apartment I mean room). We are tired of the lack of American products.

But we will miss traveling. We will miss the pretty great public transportation. We will miss living in a foreign country.

So like I said- highs and lows at month 19 (and really closer to 20).

Things feel a lot better now that we know exactly where we will be going in May. We are excited for our summer vacation before Matt goes job hunting and I start school!

I look forward to reflecting for the next two months!

Have a great week.

Friday Letters 69 & 70

Well Happy Sunday y'all!

Another week and weekend has passed us by. Matt and I are heading towards are final weeks here in Korea! We have less than 2 months now before we head home.

But more on that later- here's what we've been up to lately.

-Crocheting a lot {I'm living the wild life- I know}
-I finished the present I was making for my friend's baby boy. She is doing a nautical theme for the nursery, so I whipped up this baby blanket. It was my first big crochet project. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out- it's not perfect, but I love it.
-I also started a new blanket that I am keeping for myself. It's a lovely ripple pattern and I love working with it.

- Matt and I spent the last couple Saturdays just hanging around
-Last weekend, we went watched a friend play in a middle school basketball game
-We hung out with the Schmitts and played Mouse Trap

-We binge watched The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in one night and loved it
-I've been binge watching Hart of Dixie
-I finished all the Harry Potter books
-Read Yeah, Maybe

-Last Sunday, we made M&M Pudding Cookies which turned out pretty well
-Matt is still loving his wooden bowtie

-We only have 7 more weeks of teaching and that is so exciting

I hope y'all have a great week!

Project Life Update {2014}

Well it's now March of '15, but I still wanted to share with y'all the rest of my Digital Project Life pages.

I finished the last few pages back in January, but I still have a few things to do before I can order the book. I am pretty happy with how things have turned out, and I am excited to get started on my 2015 book. I am going to continue with Digital Project Life for this year, and I just picked out my new kit. I will share all those details with y'all later, but for now here are my pages for October, November, and December.

October

November

December

Like I said- I have a few more things to work on before I order the book, but I'm glad to be finished with the bulk of the work. I can't wait to order it and see it in person. I think it's going to be quite amazing. I don't think I will be ordering it until I get back to the states in May since it would be just another thing to ship back with us.

I have a lot of free time at work now, so I will be working on my 2015 book and hopefully will be able to stay more on top of things- but we shall see.
