Gratitude 101: Part 9

So as you guys know from my last gratitude post, my week wasn't all that great. But the weekend was. Matt and I went into Seoul and had a few little adventures and Sunday was a nice relaxing day.

I posted that gratitude post on Thursday, and the next day my dad sent me a message saying "Sorry you're having a bad week, but just remember you are living a lot of people's dreams."

And how completely true is that. I'm sure there are tons of people that would love to live overseas and experience the adventure we are on right now.

And that's what I want to talk about for this week's gratitude 101.

Perspective!

GRAD-ITUDE 101: A Linkup By Chimerikal

I am a big believer in perspective. It's not always easy, but I usually fight to see the bigger picture in my life. I firmly believe that we are going to have bad days. That's just life. And I will probably complain about my bad days here in Korea a few more times before I leave, but that's just me being honest.

The reality is life away from family sucks, but the larger picture is usually worth it.

I think if we can look beyond the day to day and see into next week, or next month, or even next year we would gain peace knowing how well things fit together.

One down side to perspective and looking towards the future is I feel like I am then trying to race towards it. I feel like I'm always rushing to be one step further. So finding the right balance is key to really being happy with where you are. I am still working on this and I think I'll talk about that point next week, but for now I'll leave you with this.

Some days are hard, but if we can take step back I think the larger bigger will be awesome. And isn't that something to be grateful for?

Gratitude Moments for the Week:
1. I'm grateful for packages that come in the mail (I got one more this week and it was awesome)
2. I'm grateful for this link up- it really helps me stay focused on the positive
3. I'm thankful for weekends- sometimes they are completely necessary for my sanity

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

  1. Hey Alex! I stumbled on to your blog from Chimerikal :)

I agree with you how seeing the big picture helps us feel more positive and grateful for our lives. It's a challenge sometimes( or in my case, most days), but it's definitely worth the try.

  2. Perspective is SUCH a powerful tool. It's important to know that even in our darkest moments, there is a lesson to be learned. Sometimes, we just have to search for what it is xx

  3. Allie -- I'm thankful for your faithfulness to this project and I'm so glad that it helps you to focus on gratitude, too! Perspective can definitely help us to appreciate what we already have -- especially when we get tunnel vision or stuck on a certain aspect. And I totally relate to always thinking about the future, too! I'm looking forward to you diving more into this next week, for sure! :)
