Saturday, Matt and I went adventuring to see Seoul Tower on Namsan mountain. This tower was open to the public in 1980 and is 236.7 meters tall (around 777 feet for those of you in America).
Seoul Tower shows an amazing panoramic view of Seoul, and is a must see if you are visiting. To get to the tower you can take a bus, walk, or take the cable car. Matt and I chose to ride the cable car both ways. We got to the cable car ticket office at around 4:00 and waited in line about 35 minutes to get on a cable car.
When we got to the top of the mountain, we were not disappointed. The views of Seoul were amazing, and the tower was pretty impressive as well. There are plenty of restaurants throughout the tower, including a revolving restaurant at the top called N. Grill. Matt and I plan on visiting the restaurant in the near future. From what I could see, there are restaurants and snack bars for pretty much any budget.
When we got to the first observation deck at the base of the tower, we realized that Seoul Tower is all about being a couple and being in love. They have a love lock fence, similar to the love lock bridges in France. {If you don't know what I am talking about read Sarah's post on the bridge in France.}
The fence wraps around the observation deck and is filled with locks. I actually love this and Matt and I will be planning on putting a lock on the fence during our next visit. What can I say- I love things like this.
They have a love lock mailbox for all the keys. They are trying to encourage people not to throw their keys over the edge of the deck to help with the environment. *The gift shops do sell love locks just in case you forget to bring one. I believe they sell for 8,000 won. They are small and come in different colors. They even sell pens just in case you need one. :)
While the love lock tradition is pretty neat, Seoul Tower's love theme does not stop there. They have love locks, love notes, love tiles, love chairs, and love walls. Everywhere you turn there is something you can do to show your love to your significant other. While I think the lock is pretty cute, that's where I draw the line. I don't need to mark every surface of the tower to show my love for Matt. :)
We really enjoyed walking around the first observation deck and seeing all the little shops and of course the view.

After exploring for a bit, we bought our tickets to the observation floor of the tower. Our wait to go to the top was about 10 minutes. There are more restaurants upstairs and more gift shops, and more views. There is even the sky bathroom that has floor to ceiling windows, so you can wash your hands and enjoy the view.
The views from the observation deck were really nice, and it wasn't all that crowded when we were up there.
When we made our way down to the bottom it was dark so we were able to see the tower all lit up for the night.
We took the cable car back and left around 6:30. There was no line when we were leaving, however there was a huge line for people waiting to go up to the tower. So maybe the evening hours are really busy for going up to the tower- just FYI.
