Gratitude 101: Part 6 {A Link Up}

Today I am linking up with Erika again for her weekly Gratitude 101.

GRAD-ITUDE 101: A Linkup By Chimerikal

I have been working at my new school here in Korea for about a month now. And overall I really am enjoying it! It's not really what I was expecting, but it's been a fun transition month.

The other day I was riding the bus to work like I always do, and I had this feeling of contentment. Just perfect contentment. There was no worrying about the future and what's next in our lives. This was a big moment for me because I am forever thinking about what's next. I have a hard time living in the moment. My family jokes that I have a 5, a 10, and a 20 year plan. {Which is actually fairly accurate.}

But something about siting on the bus, looking out the window seeing my new city go by, and listening to some of my favorite songs just made me feel so good.

I felt at peace with our decision to move to Korea. I felt content on the point my life is at now.
And it was such a good feeling.

I am so grateful to have been able to have that feeling. Contentment is such a hard thing for me to accomplish. That's not to say I don't love my life- I just have a hard time letting go and really living life.

And that is what I am grateful for this week- my feeling of contentment. I might not have everything exactly planned out for the next 5 years, but for now I am happy. I am glad Matt and I are taking this time, before start our own family, to travel and have an adventure.

  1. I'm glad that you can be content! I can feel the peace just from reading this post. :) It's nice to be able to explore and travel pre-kids. That's what we're doing right now too. My friends all tell me to do what I want before I have kids, because we won't get that time back for another 18-20 years haha. I miss Korean food in Korea. We're hoping to visit early next year.

    1. Thanks! I would love to travel with kids, but I don't think it will be as easy or as frequent as we can now that we are kid free. I hope you get the chance to visit!

  2. I love this, Alex! And what a wonderful moment to treasure. I'm glad you wrote about it because it's something you can always refer to when you are having doubts about life. Those times of complete contentment are rare, but always beautiful when they happen :)

    Also, single crochet--it sounds so simple but is SO hard! Have you had any luck?

    1. Now that you mentioned doubts- I'm really glad I wrote about this! Thanks for the tip. As for the crochet- I haven't tried this week, but I'm going to try to figure it out this weekend! Hopefully I can get it.

  3. I'm not surprised. South Korea is such a lovely country! I liked it so much that when I went to Seoul in 2011, I decided to go there on my birthday this year where I couchsurfed in Busan. I loved it there! The people were really nice and friendly, and there's just this chill vibe.

    Oh yeah, take your time! Kids can wait. :)

    1. It really is a good country. We haven't been to Busan yet, but we have plans to do so soon. So far Korea has been a good pre-kid adventure.
